NEWS

We received a few amazing donations these past few months. First we received a $10,000 donation from The Umbrella Club of Stamford, CT. Their mission is to provide compassion and support for community families and children in need where their help can make a difference. Their donation will be going towards an accessible portion of the playground.

In local news, the Deaso family has donated two accessible swings and have made a monetary donation in honor of their 12 year old daughter who passed last spring. They are also working along side the Goddard School of Monroe to fundraise as a group to purchase the Fire Truck playground component. We thank all the families of the Goddard School and the Deaso family for their generous and thoughtful gifts.

But it's not just about big donations! We've seen posts on Facebook about several lemonade stands raising money for the playground and we have received $100 from Monroe's Girl Scout Troop #34018 from their cookie sales this year. Thank you so much Avery, Elsa, Eviana, Eve, Emily, Lucy, Hailey and Mikaela!!

SUMMER EVENTS

Celebrate the end of the summer and back to school with another Ice Cream Social on the Monroe Green. It was a huge hit last year and we decided to bring it back! Come join us on the Monroe Green in front of Town Hall on Sunday September 19th for sundaes and socialization.

We also are going to be present at several events within town this summer and early fall.

  • Monroe Night At The Park on Tuesday, Aug. 3rd - A free family event featuring food, games, demonstrations by the Monroe Police Department's K-9 officer and handler and other activities.

  • Sprint for Monroe on Sunday, August 29th - We will be running, walking and cheering at this annual event! Don't forget to join our team: "Monroe Playground"

  • Monroe Farmers' Market on Friday, September 10th - Time to celebrate the return of school with a visit to the market! Make sure to stop by Little Kernel's Kettle Corn, a long time support of the playground foundation.

  • St. Peter's Apple Festival on Saturday and Sunday September 11-12th - one of the best ways to start the fall season is with this annual event filled with food, vendors and fun!

UPCOMING EVENTS

We have several fun events being planned for this fall and winter season.

Family Dinner Night Series - We want to bring this back again but we are in need of a person or two to help with the planning and logistics of making these amazing (and delicious) nights

Light up Monroe - Time to start planning your designs and stocking up on Christmas lights, decorations and extension cords because this twinkling treat is returning for it's second year! Last year's People's Choice award winners chose to have their catered feast on Fathers' Day, complete with bounce house.

Fire and Ice- Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 5th, 2022. Monroe will once again be hosting a lavish, adult only evening event at the Waterview. It's going to be hottest and coolest event of 2022!
